The class sat up. Here was a lecturer in his sixties speaking of steam turbine design, and the only thing remotely modern about him was the laser pointer in his right hand.

He continued "It's a US term."

And now even I was interested, but it would all make sense in his very next sentence:

"It's what we call the blade/ring assembly used when putting together the rotor..."
