A Toast to the Groom

Nineteen years. September 2009 will make it nineteen years since we first met. And we've been friends for perhaps that whole time.

And there are a few things I've come to understand about him; that we've all come to appreciate about the person that he is, about the person that he desires to become:

His faith in God - is strong. Unwavering even. Unquestionable.

His family - he holds them very close to his heart.

His friends - are important. He's got our back. And we all got his.

And his career. He'll go very far, as far as he wants to. And he intends to go all the way.

And the thing is that the same can be said of his bride - they've been together about five years now. And that says a lot.

And all I ask of him is that in times of good, in times of bad, is that he remembers this day. How happy he is right now. How proud he is to be her man. That he remembers the vows he took on this day. And more importantly, that he remembers why he took them.

Because to do that is to never take this marriage for granted. To do that is to forever be the person that he aspires to. To do that is to be the life partner that his new wife so rightly deserves.

And now a toast. To a brilliant individual, to a great friend. May he never have cause to sleep on the couch.

:)

Cheers.
