A Crisis of Sorts
Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 20:28 The boy takes pride in his work, especially that which he throws his everything into. And now he's disheartened by a low mark, especially after addressing the concerns he was asked to; or so he thinks. He feels betrayed. Stupid even. Definitely.
And he now has three more assignments to complete, all within the next few days. His excuses are valid, but his excuses are excuses and he knows that. He can do better....he just needs to believe that once more. And his obstacles are growing with time as is his weariness to face them.
He holds his head, his elbows on the table before him. He's supposed to know what he's about and now he's not so sure anymore. This life is bigger than some arbitrary project and he understands that - but for some reason that failure is enough to stop him in his tracks. A minor setback has somehow become a turning point in his life, and the lesson he needs to embrace once more is that what he does right here, right now is all that matters. He slowly reaches for the whiteboard marker and it feels like it the hardest thing he has ever done. But enough of this. It's time to get started.
