Question & Answer

As I was cruising to a stop at the red light close tothe Police Station along the Eastern Main Road last night, a black Frontier overtook me on the opposing lane and stopped abruptly in front, hazard lights flashing. And a man of African descent got out in a fit of rage, right arm outstretched, pointing, whilst storming towards the driver of the Almera to my left that was clearly enjoying his phone conversation.

"YOU!"

He was demanding an explanation for the bad-drive that he suffered at Curepe Junction just one minute before, and one was offered - by rightly sighting me as the cause.

I wound down the passenger side window just a bit as he now looked to me to justify my violent swerving into the left lane several meters back, causing at least three other vehicles to take similar action. And I only did that because some asshole from the east-bound lane had abruptly pulled out from the traffic and crossed the median to make a u-turn directly into my path to head back west - literally three seconds before I came upon that very spot.

He grudgingly accepted that and was making his way back to his vehicle as the other driver shouted behind him "Is one love, nobody out to hurt anybody." The Frontier pulled off and sped to the right even before the lights turned green. I am shaken without showing it.

I was reliving the experience whilst pulling into the main entrance of Mt. Hope, wondering what really is the point of it all. Is it worth doing what I can to help make this a better place? I just wrapped up a meeting in UWI regarding "The Eye" for God's sake. And then my cousin opened the passenger-side door and got on in, she offered a peck on my cheek and the exact words I needed to hear..."Love you cuzzie!" And I had my answer.
